March Gladness
There is much to celebrate this month. In a few weeks, we will witness people who have been born again and saved due to the profession of their faith and belief in the heart that Jesus is Lord and God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9) get baptized on Palm Sunday. One of those persons is an elementary-age child. Praise God! A week later, those who know Jesus as their Savior will celebrate the victory of our risen Lord and King (1 Corinthians 15:57) on Easter Sunday. March gladness is upon us! See what I did there? Instead of madness...moving on.
We, as Christ-followers, do have much to celebrate, as we take a day set apart for our Savior to celebrate, worship, make room for the sick, and share the good news about His victory over sin and death (1Corinthians 15:55). Wait, what? Sick? Share? Yep. Just like Levi/Matthew did after he gave up a lucrative and albeit hated profession as a Jewish tax collector for the Roman Empire (Matthew 9:9-12). Matthew, told by Jesus to follow Him and be His disciple (v.9), then had a large banquet and served (hosted) a bunch of sick people at his house (Luke 5:29-30). These sick people were spiritually ill and needed to turn away from a life of sin and experience a restored relationship with God (Luke 5:31-32). My friends, how are you making room for the sick this Easter? How are you celebrating the victory by serving others like Matthew?
